Visitors of Charlotte Douglas International Airport can now seamlessly reserve and pay for their parking space through the airport’s website and mobile apps. The complete parking experience is integrated on CLT’s Digital Airport Platform delivered by M2mobi.

The passenger journey to the airport gate can be complex and stressful. Passengers increasingly expect airports to provide digital tools that can make this journey more frictionless and predictable. M2mobi developed its Digital Airport Platform to fully support all steps in the passenger journey on multiple digital channels. Prime example is CLT’s new online parking reservation possibility.

World-class mobile first passenger experience

As one of the top 10 busiest airports in the world, Charlotte Douglas International Airport is a global front runner in providing passengers with customized and personalized services. It is also one of the world’s first airports to implement their website and mobile app on M2mobi’s innovative Digital Airport Platform. The Digital Airport Platform powers essential digital passenger facing services to increase non-aeronautical revenues and enhance passenger experiences.

Parking is a crucial part of the passenger experience for CLT, and a key non-aeronautical revenue source. Many CLT airport visitors want to reserve and pay for available parking space in advance. This secures them a parking spot and a better price. CLT has commissioned Aeroparker to enable the digital reservations. By integrating the AeroParker API on the Digital Airport Platform, M2mobi created a seamless parking journey in the airport's own website and mobile apps.

API driven experience

Aeroparker is software that quickly drives new revenues for airports by enabling the pre booking of airport parking. The integration illustrates the simplicity and effectiveness of adding API based features to CLT’s mobile first digital airport customer experience using the Digital Airport Platform.

Results

The first results of the parking reservation integration are very strong. Combined with CLT’s strong marketing approach and M2mobi’s extensive airport UI & UX design capabilities, the new digital parking service generated more traffic than the flight information pages. The web and app usage has more than tripled since the release of the new implementation. Approximately 3.5 percent of the monthly users reserve a parking spot.
